NasIngest Privacy Policy

Effective date: 23 August 2026

NasIngest is a file-copy and verification tool. It helps you copy files from an SD card, camera, iPhone, iPad, or external drive, verify the copies using cryptographic hashes, and optionally send those verified copies to a storage destination that you configure.

Information processed

NasIngest may process:

  • Files and folders that you explicitly select.
  • File names, relative paths, sizes, timestamps, and cryptographic hashes.
  • Transfer progress, job status, verification results, and completion receipts.
  • App settings and security-scoped permissions needed to access selected folders.
  • A storage endpoint and authentication token that you enter.

File contents are processed locally on your device for copying, hashing, and verification. The app does not inspect, classify, sell, advertise against, or use the contents of your files for its own purposes.

Where files are sent

Files are sent only to the HTTPS storage destination that you configure, such as your own NAS, server, or compatible storage service.

Fish and Media does not receive or retain transferred file contents unless you choose to configure a storage destination operated by Fish and Media. If you configure a third-party destination, that provider's privacy policy and retention practices also apply.

NasIngest does not include advertising, analytics, profiling, or tracking services.

Local retention

Verified copies, manifests, job history, hashes, and transfer records may remain on your device or selected storage drive until you delete them or enable the app's post-verification cleanup option.

The app only removes local copies after the configured receiver reports successful receipt and independent verification, and only when cleanup has been enabled.

Source files are not deleted by NasIngest.

Authentication information

Storage authentication tokens are stored in the device Keychain. Tokens are used only to authenticate requests to the storage destination you configure.

Fish and Media does not have access to your NAS credentials or authentication tokens.

Notifications

NasIngest may create local notifications about transfer progress, completion, interruption, or errors. These notifications are generated on your device.

Third-party services

NasIngest does not send file contents or personal information to Fish and Media analytics, advertising, profiling, or tracking systems.

Your configured storage provider may receive files, metadata, network information, and authentication requests as necessary to provide the storage service. You are responsible for reviewing that provider's privacy policy.

Data retention and deletion requests

Fish and Media does not retain transferred files on its own systems unless you explicitly configure a Fish and Media-operated destination.

If you believe Fish and Media has received personal information through support or another direct interaction, contact us to request access, correction, or deletion where applicable.

Security

NasIngest uses HTTPS for remote transfers, resumable uploads, local verification, cryptographic hashes, and Keychain storage for authentication tokens. No method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure.

Changes

We may update this policy when the app's data practices change. The updated version will be published at this URL with a revised effective date.
